Trump bites back
The powers that be in Scotland apparently aren't quite finished with The Donald's 2 billion dollar golf development dream. It seems some significant portion of the population does indeed believe the golf mecca would be good for Scotland. So much so that Martin Ford, the committee councillor who put the eco-caboshe on Trump's plan has been removed as chairman of the committee.
According to a BBC news story, Aberdeenshire councillors voted 26 to 10 to unseat Mr. Ford as chairman of the infrastructure services committee at an emergency meeting. Trump's spokesman warned that failure by the Aberdeenshire's council to endorse the plans would put the entire project in jeopardy. The Scottish government has seen fit to call in the resort application. They believe the project has national significance and therefore should not be left to a local council's decision. Heeee's back!

The game does not need more high end luxury golf courses to cater to the needs of the super rich. What it needs to do is go out there and ensure the game is within the reach of every little kid who dreams of making it big in the sports world.
Of course in this case the question is not about big investment pouring in, no one would oppose that on principle. Here the issue is really whether such amounts of foreign investment is enough to push the environmental issues associated with it under the carpet.
This obviously falls under the bigger area of discussion of whether development should be judged solely on the amount of money being played around with. Tough questions, Tougher answers. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this battle.
