Christmas warm and fuzzies
With all the Christmas season hub-bub it's easy to lose sight of the few precious moments that come when your kids finally open those much anticipated gifts that they've spied under the tree for past weeks. And although it's true that some of us tend to overdo at Christmas, there is a sense of real connection when the little ones tear into those carefully wrapped packages.
I was lucky enough to experience a Christmas connection myself. A client/friend mentioned her dismay that she was unable to find the Wii that her nephew had asked for. Like most busy professionals, she postponed her shopping and ultimately resigned herself to the fact that she just missed the opportunity. Oh well.
Earlier that morning over bran muffins and coffee, my wife mentioned that her good friend had stumbled into a fresh shipment of Wii's last month and bought one knowing that they were in big demand and someone she knows would probably want one.
When I mentioned this unexpected availability to my friend, her spirit immediately lifted and we were able to make the simple transaction. I later received a voicemail chock full of holiday cheer and gratitude. She was sure to be reinstated as the best aunt in the whole wide world! I felt all warm and fuzzy inside having been responsible for a small part of her Christmas excitment. Later, my wife reported that she had gotten a similar warm and fuzzy message from her friend who was elated to have found a deserving home for her extra Wii.
I know what your thinking. I'm a little... or maybe a lot off-topic here, but what the heck... it's Christmas!
