Where is the integrity
Next year will mark the beginning of the LPGA's drug testing program. The tour said it will be testing for 33 anabolic steroids, 29 stimulants and 20 beta-blockers, among other substances. We're on the threshold of a new era if the LPGA needs this type of policing. Where is the integrity that used to set professional golf apart from the dark world of drug enhanced sports? Jill Pilgrim, LPGA Tour general counsel, said the tour wanted to focus on drugs that would enhance golf performance. Tour officials developed the list as a result of extensive consultation with the National Center for Drug Free Sport in Kansas City, which handles testing for the NCAA. Pilgrim said the list will evolve over time. Annika Sorenstam, a member of the tour's drug-testing subcommittee, said she hadn't heard of most of the banned substances. Be careful Annika, you may want to rethink your sweet-tooth indulgences until you're certain all the ingredients are safe for on-course consumption!
